Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Insurance Follow-Up Representative to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our healthcare providers receive appropriate reimbursement for services rendered. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the insurance follow-up process, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records.
Responsibilities:
• Follow up with insurance payers to research and resolve unpaid insurance accounts receivable.
• Make necessary corrections in the practice management system to ensure appropriate reimbursement for all FMG providers.
• Identify potential trends in denials or reimbursement issues by payer, type, denial reason, or coding issue, and report to supervisory staff for escalation.
• Document all activities and findings in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity of all account documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Stay current with internal, industry, and government regulations relevant to the assigned function.
• Establish and maintain professional and effective relationships with peers and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of the insurance follow-up process, clinic operations, general office principles, medical insurance, payer contracts, and basic medical terminology and abbreviations.
• Understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements.
• Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of revenue cycle or related work experience demonstrating the requisite job knowledge and abilities.
• Graduation from a post-high school program in medical billing or another business-related field.
