Job Overview
Salary Range : $72, 082
• The overall objective is to ensure all Mercedes-Benz vehicles imported/distributed in the USA and Canada meet all necessary quality exterior body appearance requirements of MB vehicles produced by all MBAG plants worldwide prior to distribution in the retail market.
• Ensure the company is able to maximize the value of the vehicles in the market and to avoid vehicles going to auction at diminished values.
• This position must have advanced skills and ability to identify the necessary repair method necessary for vehicles exterior and interior components that impact the safety, integrity of vehicle body and quality of MB vehicles.
• Must have the skill and aptitude to repair all body and frame damage of vehicles including heavy crash repair to meet MBAG quality standards and procedures.
• Must have advanced skills to assemble and disassemble vehicle body related components including, but not limited to the preparation of body related components for paint by use of correct sanding and priming techniques.
• Required to have advance skills and knowledge of the various types of welding techniques (i.e. Laser/Aluminum/Mig) that might be required to complete repairs and the knowledge to know the correct type of welding techniques to be used to retain the values of MB vehicles.
• Responsible to calculate and calibrate the use of the Celette Bench methods in repairing MB vehicles.
• This position must have the advanced skill to utilize and understand advanced vehicle diagnostic computer systems in determining the correct type of body repair that may be completed.
• This position must have the knowledge and advanced skill to evaluate and determine if a dent can be fixed using dent-less paint repair or a replacement part would be required.
• Required to know the MB approved methods to conduct paint-less dent repair in order to be both cost and operational efficient in respecting the integrity of the MB vehicle.
• This position must have the advanced skills to prepare and/or replace body components using approved MBAG processes.
• Must also have the written and verbal skills to ensure all repaired/replaced body components are recorded properly in MBAG and MBUSA systems to ensure a complete accurate record of open and completed work to the vehicle is maintained. This is necessary from both a quality and legal standpoint.
• This position is to provide technical support, guidance and training to Technical Associates and Body Technician II daily in order for these positions to be effective in support of all body components replace/repair necessary for MB vehicles.
• Must also perform or ensure all preventative maintenance on tools and equipment are completed so that VPC operations can be carried out efficiently.
• Must have the necessary technical skills to give guidance and expert advice to management on all body related components for repair/replacement related issues. Responsible to complete online and classroom based training for new tools, software (Microsoft Products), diagnostic systems and new vehicles yearly or as required.
• This position must have the qualifications to ensure all work completed is done in adherence to ISO90001 standards and MBAG quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
• Identify, validate and perform body related campaigns from single to multiple vehicles as directed by company Engineering Services when needed
• Evaluate, diagnose and determine damage on vehicles to find the correct repair methods and then commence with repair work including identifying parts to be replaced and order, priming and sanding of all body related components as required
• Evaluate and determine If vehicles must be disassembled and then reassemble for body shop repair and/or protect areas not damaged in compliance with company standards
• Using basic body repair techniques (paint-less dent repair/Celette Bench/All types of welding), repair cars according to procedures to ensure adherence to company quality standards
• Utilize vehicle diagnostic systems, online technical instructions and company vehicles record systems to evaluate, track, validate and record completion of job. Use of company online systems for part information related to vehicle.
• Perform cleaning and preventative maintenance on tools/equipment and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Complete online and classroom based training for new tools, software (Microsoft Products), diagnostic systems and new vehicles as required. Provide body related training, support and guidance to Technical Associates and Body Technician II to
