Junior Database Administrator - IGEN

POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Database Administrator (JDBA) will assist in tracking and driving to conclusion all incidents and requests related to the databases for our IGEN Division. The JDBA will review operational database logs and reports on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs. The JDBA will work with developers to optimize and tune database queries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with system administrators to assist in managing and configuring database environment
• Works with software developers to optimize and tune database requests
• Monitors the health of the database environment and takes proactive actions to keep the environment running in an optimal condition, reaching out to the DBA with any questions
• Participates as a key member of the disaster recovery test team
• Documents database environment and specific needs of each application
• Participates as a member of project teams
• Maintains and shares process knowledge
• Continuously learn and develop self professionally
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
• Associates degree – Computer Science, MIS, or related field
• Prior experience working with databases preferred
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server tools
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery a plus
• Experience with clustering, mirroring, and replication a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, and patching works a plus
• Strong analytical skills
• Innovative and detail oriented
• Change agent, willing to challenge the status quo
• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Good planning and organizing skills
