Position Overview: The Senior Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing senior programs and activities at the Township Senior Center. This role includes managing the Dial-a-Ride Program, maintaining the facility, and assisting with various Parks and Recreation activities. The Coordinator will handle general office tasks, monitor vehicle maintenance, and support the preparation of status reports for governmental agencies.

SENIOR ACTIVITY COORDINATOR FORMAL DESCRIPTION:

General Statement of Duties: Coordinates activities for seniors at Township Senior Center; Dispatcher for Dial-a-Ride Program; Maintains Facility; Assign drivers; Assist with the preparation of status reports on senior programs, which are submitted to the various governmental agencies; Assist the Parks and Rec Committee with planning, organizing, and executing Parks and Rec activities and programs, Assist Township Staff with the preparation of a Township Newsletter, General Office work; Monitor vehicles for maintenance.

Supervision Received: Work is performed within established departmental guidelines under the supervision of the Department Head or designee.

Supervision Exercised: Dispatcher for the van and dial-a-ride drivers.

Examples of Duties: The following are typical examples, but not limited to, types of work assignments for the position.

Dial-a-Ride Program:
• Schedule and dispatch vans for pick-ups.
• Assist with compiling of statistic and person served, for the submission of reports to various grantor agencies.
• Monitor and schedule vehicle for maintenance.
• Attend meetings among various organizations on senior issues.

Senior Center Program:
• Open and secure building.
• Oversee housekeeping and custodial operation.
• Coordinate Senior Citizen Seminars and Activities and related duties.
• Assist with daily Nutrition Program.
• Purchase supplies and equipment for the building and various programs.
• Organize trips and act as tour director, collect funds and maintain passenger list.
• Attend meetings with other Senior Program Coordinators in County.

Parks and Rec:
• Assist the Parks and Rec Committee with coordination of events.
• Assist with organizing and tracking donations, volunteers, permits, and vendors for Parks and Rec events.
• Purchase supplies and equipment for Parks and Rec events.
• Attend meetings with other Parks and Rec Coordinators in County.
• Attend Parks and Rec meetings and events.

Perform routine clerical duties such as phone coverage, typing, filing, copying, faxing and mailing.

Discharges other related duties within the Employee’s Department, as assigned: (a) which member(s) of the classification have performed in the past, or (b) which are required to meet emergencies, or (c) which are required to provide necessary services when other Employees are absent or not available, or (d) which involved the use of new equipment, procedures or techniques in the performance of such duties.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in computers and applicable software. Minimum of three (3) years related work experience with senior programs. CPR certification, preferred.
