Step Into Teaching have partnered with a fantastic secondary school in Harlow, Essex, who are seeking a graduate to join as a Maths based Teaching Assistant to support their students in the classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience before teacher training and beyond!
The Opportunity:
Supporting students as a Teaching Assistant in the classroom so they are given the best preparation possible for their exams. You'll be based within a reputable secondary school who's performances speak for itself, and the support they provide graduates (from all ages) coming on board as part of their team is unparalleled.
You'll be helping support the students in small group work and on a 1:1 basis too. The opportunity is perfect for you to gain experience working in the classroom before going onto opportunities such as Teacher Training, PGCE etc.
Requirements:
You must hold or have a predicted Maths (degree or related) with a 2.2 or above, applicants who hold strong A Level Maths and people with Science backgrounds with a strong level of understanding in Maths are also encouraged to apply. You must have strong communication and listening skills alongside being reflective and creative within the classroom. The ideal candidate will also be passionate about working with students and making a difference to their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes using strategies in liaison with the Teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
• Support the Teacher, including planning, preparation, the delivery of teaching and learning, classroom management and assessment.
• Be able to help the students solve problems and be a supportive figure within the classroom.
• Build relationships with colleagues and students to ensure the best learning environment possible.
• Offer support to the students if they are struggling with questions.
