The American Heart Association is thrilled to have an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Statistical Analyst at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX . This position can be home based.

We are hiring a Senior Statistical Analyst to leverage cutting-edge data science tools and methodologies on real-world clinical data for scientific research in precision medicine. Join a rapidly growing team of professionals working to build a world-class data science practice with a focus on solving real-world health challenge and reduce the health disparities. You will also identify and analyze the real-world clinical data to address scientific questions, define data strategy, build statistical analysis methodology and plan, and help us building solutions and tools to help answer complex clinical research questions, with a focus on health disparities.

Our work includes novel areas including machine learning/ AI, data visualization, and cloud technology. You will closely work with American Heart Association data scientists, engineers, clinical and research scientists to creatively address medical research challenges. Responsibilities
• Conducts advanced data analysis using real-world patient clinical or electronic health record data by employing the statistical methods to address crucial research questions related to cardiovascular disease, health disparities and equity
• Provides statistical analysis and reports including hypothesis testing, forecasting, and predictive analytics
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, project managers, clinicians and domain experts to refine research questions and prepare the statistical analysis plan and report
• Share your discoveries with the global scientific community by publishing your research findings in high impact journals and presenting work at scientific meetings
• Serve as a technical and topical expert, fostering collaboration, consulting, and acting as a liaison to Association stakeholders and external peers
• Lead cohort meetings and workshops for data science awardees
• Attend relevant external conferences and facilitating consultative sessions with volunteer Task Forces and other Association experts
• Contribute your expertise to the development and execution of communication plans and strategies, including network engagement, written pieces, workshop planning, and publication strategies

Qualifications
• A Master's or PhD degree in biostatistics, data science, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, public health, computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in statistical analysis and modeling which includes hypothesis testing, logistic and linear regression, parametric and non-parametric methods
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience using R programming language (Python is a plus)
• Proficiency in both statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms, model tuning, and validation of developed algorithms
• Three (3) or more years of experience in patient clinical data analysis
• Experience working with large-scale, complex data sets such as Electronic Health Record data, or research cohort data in the clinical domain
• Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary databases and software
• Expertise in crafting statistical analysis plans
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings effectively to stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills, effective time management, responsibility, and self-motivation
• Less than 5% travel availability
