The Department of History at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the History of China before 1800, to begin in August 2025.
The teaching load is two courses per semester, with teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will share responsibility for a two-semester Chinese history survey in conjunction with East Asia history colleagues. Besides undergrad and graduate students in the History Department, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach MA students from Asian Studies and other MA programs across the university.
Candidates whose work and interests also include regions adjacent or related to China (e.g. Northeast, Southeast or Central Asia) are encouraged to apply.
A Ph.D. in History is required prior to appointment start date. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in teaching as well as research.
