Assistant Fertilizer Manager

The Assistant Fertilizer Manager directs the operations of the fertilizer department and reports to the Operations Manager.

The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like
• Assists in invoicing tickets, credit messages and other related computer duties.
• Supervises truck routing including contacting customers, suppliers and other related concerns.
• Assists in inventory control including monitoring receivers, customer orders and general duties associated with inventory control.
• Assists the Operations Manager in monitoring and implementing supplier programs.
• Assists in monitoring equipment maintenance and care including month-end reports on mileage, DOT inspections, driver reports and other required reports.
• Manages all of the equipment associated to fertilizer.
• Assists Operations Manager in employee supervision including direct supervision of fertilizer personnel and completion of semi-annual and annual job reviews.
• Assists Operations Manager with month-end closing activities including verification of invoices, inventory count and proper month-end reports.
• Forecasts and orders inventory as needed.
• Provides back-up to blender operator when necessary.
• Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
• Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of warehouse or trucking experience is preferred.

Other skills that will help you succeed
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical warehouse and distribution environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud and occasionally very loud. In this position, the employee regularly works near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You will be regularly required to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
