OVERVIEW

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Directs the operations of the College Career and Technology Education’s division of parent and community engagement for the MSCS District and is the recognized expert in the field of community engagement, providing system-wide direction and expertise. Responsible for managing the Work-Based Learning program and initiatives.
Essential Job Functions
• Coordinates relationships with external constituents; acts as a liaison to external constituents such as the Tennessee Department of Education, city and county agencies, policymakers, funders, and other key external partners, establishes relationships with these community groups to create partnerships with the schools in Shelby County.
• Oversees and provides a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in Work-Based Learning, internships, externships, and apprenticeships, and is viewed as an expert in the field.
• Cultivates community collaborations; seeks out opportunities to partner with community organizations; coordinates solicitation efforts to secure needed resources for teachers and students through donations from local businesses; establishes a collaborative effort with all area Chambers of Commerce to assist with identifying potential business partners.
• Develops and implements recognition programs for partners, schools, teachers, programs, and students.
• Manages continuous research-based professional development workshops for central office and schools staff to support work-based learning and partnership implementation.
• Leads the CCTE Division with parent and community engagement efforts; develops programs and training for parents to empower them to support their student's education; ensures programs are in compliance with ESSA and Perkins.
• Works with the Director of Communications to coordinate and craft messaging to parents and other external constituents.
• Collaborates with the directors and other managers to formulate targets and goals for productivity, cost management, quality, and provides input on system-wide policy development as it relates to community outreach and engagement.
• Executes responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards; uses personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.
• Supervises staff by establishing standards and effectively selecting, training motivating, delegating, monitoring and evaluating performance to ensure targets and goals are met. Facilitates professional development and serves as a coach and mentor.
• Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provide for appropriate research and compile reports, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or other related field, or equivalent, plus an additional 5 years related experience, for a total education and experience of 9 years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
