A leading FinTech based in NYC is looking to hire an AVP or VP backend engineer to join their engineering team focused on innovating their cutting-edge alternative investment platform. Potential candidates will play an integral role in designing and implementing systems that power their platform which is built on top of a micro-service architecture. The firm has been growing significantly due to their growing client base and now have more than 200 billion invested on their platform.
The ideal candidate will have 3-12 years of experience, can build APIs and applications that are highly performant and intuitive, and strong programming ability in Scala. Given their growth this will be a role where you wear a number of hats and will get exposure to the full SDLC.
Responsibilities:
• Building cloud native services using Scala using open-source frameworks Akka, ZIO etc.
• Work with broader engineering team to build and improve the platform to support increasing client base and trading volume
• Unit and integration test development using Scala Test
• Active participation in stand-up meetings
• Provide leadership in the team including code reviews, participation in design meetings, and sharing ideas to improve the platform
Qualifications:
• Degree in Software Engineering
• 3+ years of web-based application development
• Experience in Scala, Node.js or Java a plus
• An understanding of how SSO works is a big plus
• Demonstrated understanding of relational or NoSQL database concepts and modeling practices
• Passion for actively learning new technologies
• Ability to work independently or as part of a group effort, as required
• Solid problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• Collaborative approach to software development
