Assistant Professor, Bioorganic Chemistry/Chemical Biology

Department of Chemistry

New York University Arts and Science

The Department of Chemistry at New York University (NYU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. Particular attention will be given to applications in the area of Bioorganic Chemistry/Chemical Biology, broadly defined, and related areas. The successful applicant is anticipated to be appointed at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field and demonstrate the potential to do pioneering research and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department of Chemistry is continuing a significant growth plan, including the recent creation of the Simons Center for Computational Physical Chemistry, the continued expansion of the Biomedical Chemistry and Molecular Design Institutes, and the addition of numerous senior and junior faculty members. The Department has also embarked on an exciting Chemical Biology Initiative that includes the addition of more than 60,000 square feet of new research space. Interested faculty are able to participate in significant interdisciplinary programs within the Washington Square campus, as well as with NYU’s engineering and medical schools, and scholarly activities at its campuses in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.

Candidates should submit a curriculum vita, a detailed description of research plans and interests, and a statement of teaching experience and interests. Because diversity and inclusion are an important part of the NYU mission, we request that you include a paragraph in your cover letter telling us how diversity and inclusion figure into your past, present, and future teaching, research, and community engagement (additional information can be found here http://as.nyu.edu/departments/facultydiversity/recruitment/diversity-statements.html).

The application should also include three letters of recommendation. The deadline for receipt of applications is October 31, 2024, and review of completed applications will begin at that time. The earliest anticipated start date is September 1, 2025 pending budgetary and administrative approval. Please submit applications through the following link https://apply.interfolio.com/153472. Questions about this position can be sent by Email to: chemistry.search@nyu.edu.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The Faculty of Arts and Science at NYU is at the heart of a leading research university that spans the globe. We seek scholars of the highest caliber who embody the diversity of the United States as well as the global society in which we live. We strongly encourage applications from women, racial and ethnic minorities, and other individuals who are under-represented in the profession, across color, creed, race, ethnic and national origin, physical ability, gender and sexual identity, or any other legally protected basis. NYU affirms the value of differing perspectives on the world as we strive to build the strongest possible university with the widest reach.
