Our client is seeking a Sales Engineer, who is a vital link between their customers' technical teams, internal sales and engineering departments.
This role combines deep technical expertise with strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively promote and sell our advanced geotechnical solutions, such as high-performance geosynthetics and NPA geocells.
The Sales Engineer focuses on serving clients across the oil and gas, mining, energy, railways, and civil infrastructure sectors, driving sales growth through technical consultation, solution development, and relationship-building. This position collaborates closely with both the engineering and marketing teams, as well as with the sales, marketing, and operations teams at their sister company, to align sales strategies with client needs and market trends. Frequent travel to client sites, industry conferences, and collaborative projects is required to maintain a strong presence in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the oil and gas, mining, energy,
• railways, and civil infrastructure industries.
• Understand client needs and recommend advanced geosynthetics and ground improvement solutions that align with their project requirements, focusing on core products like Tough Cell and NPA geocells.
• Serve as a bridge between engineering and marketing teams, translating complex technical details into clear, compelling sales messages and materials.
• Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and operations teams to create integrated sales strategies and leverage synergies between the companies.
• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and workshops to showcase the value, innovation, and benefits, both in-person and virtually.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop technical proposals, detailed engineering designs, and project plans that are tailored to specific customer requirements.
• Work closely with the marketing department to align sales strategies with market trends, industry research, and customer feedback.
• Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and close deals that align with company objectives and client needs.
• Develop engineering tools, materials, and other products as needed to support business development efforts and ensure efficient operations.
• Travel frequently to client sites, industry events, conferences, and collaborative projects to promote company offerings and maintain a strong industry presence.
• Prepare and deliver accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and reports to the management team, providing insights into market dynamics, client feedback, and competitive positioning.
• Stay updated on industry developments, competitor activities, advancements in geosynthetics and ground improvement technologies, and collaborate with academic and research institutions as needed.
• Provide post-sales support, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and nurturing long- term client relationships.
• Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets by effectively promoting and selling the companies advanced geotechnical solutions.
• Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities in diverse markets and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of company products, services, and technological advantages to effectively communicate their value proposition to clients.
• Enhance collaboration between engineering, marketing, and sales teams to create cohesive sales strategies, technical marketing materials, and targeted campaigns.
• Act as a technical resource and advisor for both clients and internal teams, ensuring successful project delivery, customer satisfaction, and repeat business.
Key Requirements:
• Must have a P.Eng. designation with APEGA or a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.).
• 5-10 years of experience in sales and engineering, preferably within geotechnical, civil engineering, or related industries.
• Class 5 Drivers License and an adequate 5-year Drivers Abstract.
• Experience building relationships with the department of transportation would be an asset.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in a technical sales
• Experience in preparing budgets, bids, and contracts, and leading negotiations to secure favorable terms.
• Strong understanding of advanced geosynthetics, soil stabilization, and ground improvement solutions, particularly in the context of oil and gas, mining, energy, railways, and civil infrastructure applications.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
