Our Federally registered National Apprenticeship in managed grazing dairy production will remain a cornerstone of our work. The Apprenticeship program consists of 4000 hours over two years 3700 hours of paid full-time work-based training under an approved Mentor Dairy Grazier and 300 hours of related instruction through our Managed Grazing

Innovation Center (MGIC). DGA has over 200 approved Mentor Dairy Graziers in 16 states Iowa, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship invites applications for an On Farm Research and Technical Director to serve as the lead role in facilitating a managed dairy grazing and on farm research technical assistance team.

This is a senior position that oversees current grant objectives through the lens of practical and applied resources for farm management. The On Farm Research and Technical Director will build programming and identify research opportunities from the current projects and assist in acquiring funding and oversee continued research and grazing technical support.

This role involves developing and delivering technical assistance programs, identifying, and coordinating with various stakeholders, and promoting best practices in managed grazing to enhance soil health, water quality, and overall farm productivity. The On Farm Research and Technical Director will also work with the University of Missouri and oversee the product and market development of PaddockTrac. This position will also be directing the implementation of grant-funded projects related to managed grazing and PaddockTrac to ensure alignment with organizational goals
• Program Development and Implementation
• Develop, manage, and implement technical assistance programs focused on managed grazing practices.
• Design and deliver educational workshops, field days, and one-on-one consultations to provide farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to implement managed grazing systems.
• Stakeholder Coordination and Collaboration
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural extension services, conservation organizations, and government agencies.
• Collaborate with partners to promote managed grazing practices and to secure funding for technical assistance programs.
• Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to sustainable agriculture and managed grazing.
• Represent DGA and the managed grazing dairy sector in research and education sectors.
• Engage with producer groups, environmental interests, and supply chain sectors.
• Become established as a prominent industry resource in managed dairy grazing.
• Conduct presentations regarding farm management applications, environmental

outcomes, and advocacy for the practice of managed grazing.
• Grant Outcomes Oversight
• In collaboration with the Grants Manager, oversee and provide technical support to program managers and education coordinators on the implementation of grant-funded projects related to managed grazing, and PT on farms, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
• Advise and assist in identifying and applying for additional funding and research opportunities to support managed grazing initiatives.
• PaddockTrac Product Strategy and Roadmap
• Develop and manage the product development roadmap, aligning with the company’s strategic goals and market demands.
• Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to identify new product opportunities and gaps in the market.
• Work with stakeholders to define product vision, positioning, and value proposition.
• Represent DGA and farmers in the development of PaddockTrac.
• Create and work with a science advisory team to provide scientific basis to a grass-fed definition/standard.
• Project Management
• Lead the product development process from ideation through to commercialization, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and launch.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, design, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless execution of product development initiatives.
