CONSULTANT
Westbridge Academy is a New Jersey Approved Special Education School, servicing K-12 students with significant behavioral and emotional regulation challenges.
Westbridge seeks a consultant with deep clinical, programmatic, and instructional expertise to develop, conduct, and monitor training in therapeutic interventions in the school on an on-going basis. Westbridge utilizes a specialized intervention model called TIPS – Therapeutic Interventions for Psychological Success.
TIPS is an extensive training module that empowers teachers and counselors to improve student behavior and maximize academic and emotional success. TIPS provides specific language, tools, and techniques for therapeutic interventions with students, which are implemented both in the classroom and in individual counseling sessions with students. Specifically, this consultant will develop a training for TIPS, train teachers and counselors in TIPS, and serve to provide on-going feedback and coaching to teachers and staff on their implementation of therapeutic interventions with students.
Consultant will be expected to perform the following functions related to providing and coordinating the training needs of this well established, respected special education program:
• Identify educational and training goals and objectives for teachers and staff;
• Instruct staff on policies and procedures both in the instructional and administrative domains; and
• Consult with staff members for identification of staffing or operational needs.
Successful completion of these functions will require developing familiarity with and an understanding of Westbridge Academy’s strategic plan to effectively develop, facilitate, and implement Westbridge’s therapeutic intervention model. In addition, Westbridge Academy’s evolving training and professional development needs will require production of training materials, including electronic modules and paper-based products, including delivery.
Consultant functions include:
• Codesign of learning products designed for operations with multiple stakeholder groups;
• Design and implementation of collaborative team processes; and
• Updating training curriculum to be in alignment with Westbridge values and core approaches.
Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate experience, skills and knowledge related to:
• Codesign with stakeholders with multiple perspectives;
• Facilitation of strategic collaborative processes;
• Adult learning theory;
• Instructional design processes;
• Project management; and
• Instructional technologies (including e-learning).
In addition, Westbridge desires a consultant who has a demonstrated ability to forge collaborations and partnerships and demonstrated experiences modeling a strong community built on teamwork, respect, equity and integrity.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Doctoral degree in Psychology and/or Educational Leadership from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) years of experience involving the development of educational programs, including therapeutic intervention models is required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: A New Jersey clinical, instructional and/or educational services certificate issued by the New Jersey State Department of Education in an appropriate subject matter, as determined by the appointing authority.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: May be required to provide guidance in verbal de-escalation techniques during student crises. This position involves approximately 25 hours of weekly work.
