Job Description: Controls Optimization Engineer
The Controls Engineer position at our Raleigh, NC, facility is now open to qualified candidates. As a member of the Process & Manufacturing Controls team, you will be responsible for programming, designing, and servicing automated controls systems for industrial clients. You will be designing and programming industrial process control systems, integrating new and existing hardware and software, and troubleshooting and repairing customer control systems. You will also program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Servos, and VFDs while following all UL 508A control panel construction and design requirements. You will provide estimates, controls hardware costs, and labor hours for potential projects while ensuring compliance with NFPA 70E.
Hard Skills:
• PLC Programming

• A control panel designed in accordance with the UL 508A standard can reduce the risk of electrical hazards in industrial environments. The standard helps ensure that the panel is built with quality materials and components, and that it meets the necessary safety requirements
Soft Skills:
• Proficiency to handle being in a seated or standing position for a significant period
• A commitment to traveling to nearby customer sites
This opening falls under the contract-to-hire category, with the initial contract period spanning 12 months.
Work Environment:
• The customary work schedule for most employees is from Monday to Friday inclusively, and during that time, they typically work the standard hours of 9-5.
• The standard working hours per week are 40 hours, and any work beyond that is acknowledged as overtime.
• Although our largest client is a priority, our growth in Raleigh is notable. We have scheduled four significant projects this year that go beyond our main client. Over time we need someone who has an open attitude and is willing to travel to local Raleigh client sites. Duties will include upgrading current systems, installing new packaging and conveyor systems, and general plant support. Work will be a mix of hybrid and on-site, with deployment to North Carolina job sites being possible up to 100%. The available travel time is capped at 20%. The right candidate should be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
