Job Description:
A primary responsibility of the Pet Bather at Petco is to maintain consistency in the brand and programs offered. They ensure that all operational standards are followed at the Pet Care Center.
Petco's Positive Dog Training program is the primary driver of the humanely efficient training courses provided. As a dog trainer, you must adhere to these governing policies and teaching methodologies. The LIMA principles that underpin this program emphasize the privileges of dog and pet parent alike while also prioritizing the trainer's skills and knowledge in the training process. Your job exposes you to creating an environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and a sense of value between pet parents and their dogs.
Position Responsibilities:

• The program's focus on positive reinforcement helps build a stronger bond between pet and owner, leading to better communication, happier dogs, and more enjoyable relationships.
• Exercise caution and take appropriate actions to provide a safe training environment for dogs, pet parents, guests, and all Petco staff members.
• Practicing ethical standards is a crucial element of interacting with dogs, their owners, and the Pet Care Center's associates to promote transparency and trust.
• Perform the duties and obligations listed in the Dog Training Instructor Program (DTIP) with self-possession.
• Understanding Your Dog's Behavior and Needs.
• Work collaboratively with Pet Care Center partners from various departments to identify new opportunities for community partnerships and grow the dog training business.
• Demonstrate a natural ability to actively listen while positively encouraging dog trainers to achieve remarkable training results through expert coaching.
• A successful presentation requires a clear message and a well-planned delivery method.
• Stay informed about newly launched products and services, and interact with guests about their features and advantages.
• Successfully complete Petco's Positive Dog Training Instructor Program and its corresponding onboarding process according to the prescribed timetable.
• The responsibility of keeping track of dog training schedules and ensuring adherence to rules and standards rests with the individual in this position.
• As per the operational policies, it is crucial to maintain cleanliness in the Dog Training area and regularly check the equipment to ensure its functionality.
Other Essential Duties:
• Provide exceptional and polite assistance to all Petco clientele by evaluating their requirements and recommending dog training products based on vast familiarity.
• Bolster and reinforce the enforcement of safety and loss prevention procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
• Those with a high school diploma or GED are considered to meet the preferred qualification.
• Prospective employees must demonstrate their commitment to Petco's Positive Dog Training Instructor Program by completing it on schedule.
• Proficient within the realm of group facilitation, with a solid track record of bringing colleagues together to achieve common goals.
• Skilled in the utilization of technology and capable of resolving technical glitches.
• Capability in performing basic computer functions and exploring the web.
Preferred Qualifications:
• The certifications that are most preferred are CPDT-KA or KPA-CTP from the Karen Pryor Academy.
• Candidates with previous expertise in teaching positive reinforcement techniques for training dogs in a group or class environment would be preferred for this position.
