Role Summary:
Integrated Media Systems (IMS) is seeking an experienced Audio Video Technician to join our team, specializing in custom installation of advanced A/V systems. This is a hands-on role that requires adaptability, creativity, and the ability to think on your feet. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with making modifications in the field and won’t shy away from challenges that come with custom installations. You will be responsible for installing and configuring tailored systems for our high-end residential and commercial clients, with a focus on delivering excellence, no matter the complexity of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
• Custom System Installation: Install and configure tailored A/V systems, including home theaters, multi-room audio, video distribution, lighting controls, and motorized shading systems, ensuring systems meet the unique needs of each project.
• Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Assess on-site conditions and make necessary adjustments or modifications to installation plans as required. You’ll need to think creatively and troubleshoot to ensure the project is executed to the highest standard, even if conditions deviate from the original design.
• Project Phases: Lead all phases of the installation process, from pre-wire and trim to final commissioning. This includes integrating complex systems in both new construction and retrofit environments, where flexibility and customization are often required.
• Wiring & Cable Termination: Manage wiring for audio, video, networking, control, and fiber optic systems, with strong attention to detail in wire management, ensuring clean and efficient installations.
• Blueprint Reading & Modifications: Interpret and execute engineered blueprints and schematics while being prepared to adapt plans when encountering unexpected site conditions.
• System Calibration: Program and calibrate control systems (e.g., Savant, Control4, Crestron) to ensure seamless integration across audio/video sources, lighting, and shading controls.
• Customer Interaction & Training: Provide hands-on training to clients, ensuring they fully understand the operation of their customized systems. You’ll also offer post-installation support and troubleshooting when needed.
• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with project managers, sales teams, and other trades to ensure successful installation completion, always thinking ahead to anticipate and solve potential challenges.
• System Testing & Inspection: Thoroughly test all systems and components, making any necessary adjustments on-site to ensure the highest quality installation and functionality.
Key Characteristics We’re Looking For:
• Custom Installation Mindset: You must be excited by the idea of working on unique projects that require creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving. Candidates who prefer cookie-cutter installations may not thrive in this role.
• Confidence with Modifications: You should not be intimidated by unexpected challenges that may arise during installations and must be comfortable making field modifications when needed to get the job done right.
• Initiative & Ownership: Take ownership of your work, with the ability to work independently and think critically to overcome obstacles, ensuring systems are installed and integrated flawlessly.
Qualifications:
• Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in custom A/V installations, including home theaters, multi-room audio, video distribution, and control systems.
• Strong understanding of networking equipment, wireless access points, and residential network setups
