About Westcastle Ski Club: Westcastle Ski Club (WSC) is dedicated to fostering a love for skiing and developing young athletes into confident, skilled racers and all mountain skiers. Located at the picturesque Castle Mountain Resort (CMR) near Pincher Creek, Alberta. CMR has challenging terrain both for training and free skiing. WSC believes that these elements provide fertile ground for developing great racers, skiers, and athletes.
WSC currently has a very strong and knowledgeable core group of coaches who work in collaboration to offer a supportive and enthusiastic environment for athletes to thrive. WSC as both a Performance Racing and All Mountain programs. Currently, WSC is looking for another knowledgeable and passionate coach to join the team. Currently, we have a very strong group of U10s that need a dedicated coach. But the right coach is what we are looking for to join our coaching team.
Position Overview: WSC is looking for a coach with a passion for racing and free skiing. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality coaching and guidance to our athletes mainly on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the ski season (with the addition of home base camps). The primary training environment is Castle Mountain Resort, with the possibility of sessions at Powder Pass Keg (Blaimore, AB) and COP (Calgary). Travel to races within Alberta is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and lead engaging and skill-appropriate training sessions for the ages and stages athletes are at.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
• Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to athletes to support their progress and growth.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of athletes during training sessions and races.
• Collaborate with other coaches and staff to support the overall success of the program.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and Head Coach regarding schedules, expectations, and any relevant updates.
Qualifications:
• Previous coaching or racing experience.
• Minimum of certification ACA Entry Level Trained or Coach-In-Training program
• CSIA Level 1 an Asset
• Strong understanding of the aspects of ski racing and free skiing techniques and tactics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with athletes and parents.
• Ability to work primarily weekends from December through May, with the potential to work in season camps (Christmas, Family Day & Easter).
