Director of Data

Scope of Position: The Director of Data is responsible for implementing the overall data initiative and strategic plan process.

This ministry position and its department, help break the cycle of poverty on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis by: Ensuring the high execution of departments by gathering and helping evaluate information. Also by overseeing the internal and external reporting process to effectively tell the story of Shepherd.

• FLSA Status: Full Time, Salary, Exempt
• Location: 4107 E Washington St
• Remote Option? No
• Start date: Immediate

Position Schedule: 40 hours/week
• Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5 PM
• Some weekends for events through the year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cast vision for data program and move it forward
• Create and implement structures and processes to gather data from across Shepherd departments.
• Work with data partners and consultants on data
• Ensure reporting to all external and internal stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner
• Coordinate across programs to ensure the gathering of accurate data in the most efficient way possible
• Understand how programs work in order to fully grasp how data can impact the work, and how best to collect the work
• Audit internal data to ensure the highest accountability and accuracy
• Use data to tell the story of the work being done
• Generate needed information for grant reports and applications
• Oversee grant metrics and ensure the data is being gathered
• Implement and maintain Shepherd’s Relationship Scale
• Implement and maintain tracking of the 10 Assets
• Ensure all programs are in alignment with data goals and are completing tracking
• Maintain all program logic models
• Analyze data and generate reports for programs, Shepherd leadership, and the board
• Oversee the work of the Data Coordinator who manages the database, helps ensure data is properly gathered, and can pull reports

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• Strong leadership and strategic planning skills
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills
• Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and coordinate multiple work activities
• Working knowledge of Google workspace
• Ability to study, analyze, and use data
• Ability to manipulate databases
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to work with varied people

Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to communicate thoroughly in English
• Ability to drive vehicles (License Required)
• Strong computer skills
• Understanding of what makes data useful or necessary, and how to organize it

Additional Requirements for Employment
• Personal commitment to Shepherd’s Statement of Faith, mission and values.
• Reflects Biblical principles in working relationships with other SCI staff, individual volunteers, churches and community.
• National Background Check (conducted by Shepherd)
• Provide verification for authorization to work in the U.S. (Form I-9)
• Adherence to Shepherd Community Employee Handbook.
• Engages, helps train and mentors volunteers in service to the ministry whenever possible.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
