Rakuten Rewards is looking for an Android engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team. We’re an international team spanning across 3 continents responsible for building software used by hundreds of millions of users. Working within a Squad structure, you will collaborate with product, design and engineering teammates to build, and maintain our next generation of Android applications while identifying and fixing application bottlenecks, maintaining the core code, and updating applications published on the App Store. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and implement our flagship Android app which is used by hundreds of thousands of users every day Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs. Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency. Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our applications remain cutting-edge. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Proven experience as an app developer. Proficiency with Java/Kotlin Knowledge of Android design patterns (MVVM, MVP etc.) Experience working with other Android developers as part of a team Experience with entire product lifecycle duties in an Agile environment Familiarity with push notifications, APIs and cloud messaging Experience with continuous integration QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience 3+ years building native applications for Android devices Experience in Jetpack Compose would be a plus.
