What you'll do:

• Perform cashiering duties.
• Perform tasks that are related to the store's objective of achieving its assigned sales goal.
• The inventory should be stocked and priced correctly to give customers a satisfactory shopping experience.
• Adhere to prescribed procedures and protocols in the store to achieve efficiency in daily tasks and routines.
• The ability to evaluate guest inquiries and refer them to the appropriate person is a critical skill for any customer service representative.
Key Accountabilities:
• The candidate must consistently carry out all the tasks and responsibilities assigned to them, irrespective of whether an accommodation is necessary or not.
• Ensuring the health and longevity of live animals is a fundamental duty of Petco, and it can only be accomplished by observing the established policies and practices. This includes the hourly animal health check and wellness cards, which are mandatory according to Petco regulations.
• Engages in professional communication practices with all parties, emphasizing on the company's interests through written and verbal means.
• Delivers swift and respectful assistance to every Petco customer, determining their requirements and utilizing knowledge of products to suggest appropriate merchandise. Leverages suggestive selling techniques to increase individual sales results.
• The combination of nutrition education, Welcome to the Family and suggestive selling can produce a compelling sales approach that resonates with customers and helps retain them in the long run.
• Providing guests with exceptional experiences through all Omni-channel initiatives, including Instacart, Extended Aisle, and Repeat Delivery.
• Executes various responsibilities pertaining to point-of-sale services, such as managing cash, check, and credit card payments, as well as facilitating returns and exchanges.
• Aids in the placement and presentation of products according to established guidelines.
• Facilitates cash register transactions and carries merchandise for guests, with a weight limit not exceeding 50 pounds per trip.
• Complies with procedures aimed at loss prevention.
• - Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels by participating in the loading, unloading and organizing of merchandise according to established guidelines, ensuring reliable stock counts and satisfactory store supplies.
• It is important to take all the necessary measures and maintain a clean, safe living environment for store animals like birds, reptiles, and fish to ensure their good health and well-being.
• Whenever an animal, reptile, bird or fish needs special care or medical treatment, store leaders will be informed instantly.
• To ensure that the store's professional image is maintained, the staff performs various housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, window washing, facing the merchandise, and restocking the restrooms.
• Aids store management in opening and closing procedures by providing assistance where needed and ensuring that all required paperwork is filled out correctly.
• Engages in the process of conducting quarterly and yearly physical inventory checks.
• Observes and endorses authorized safety measures while preserving a spotless, secure, and salubrious habitat for team members, customers, and animals at the store.
• Undertakes assigned assignments accordingly.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• None.
Work Environment:
Although there are some tasks that require briefly exiting the store, the majority of job duties are performed indoors. An ability to remain standing for extended periods, move merchandise continuously, and carry out physical actions such as bending and kneeling is a must. The job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and tow up to 2000 lbs with material handling equipment. Not using proper safety equipment or employing inadequate lifting techniques while performing these tasks can result in harm to store personnel, pets, and customers. To ensure safety, all safety protocols and procedures must be followed.
