• Responsibilities:
• Train/teach health education classes on various health topics to eligible refugee populations with the goal of increasing health literacy and empowerment.
• Engage in curriculum development, lesson planning and instructional delivery for health education programs that help individuals, families, and communities maintain healthy lifestyles.
• Collaborate with health specialists/community stakeholders to determine needs and set goals.
• Use a variety of student groupings and make sure that most activities are student-centered.
• Address individual learning styles and learning differences and employ learning strategies that encourage students to assess their own progress.
• Promote success for all students by enabling the students to feel empowered to make informed health decisions.
• Engage in continued professional development in the areas of health education trends, cultural content, and current methodology and attend in-service training workshops.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, student progress and participation, assessments, and other course documents.
• Collect samples of students’ work (including name and date) to demonstrate knowledge.
• Collect and analyze data to learn about a particular community to improve programs and services.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and promote a supportive learning environment.
Skills:
-Native speaker of Spanish or Arabic. Fluent English speaker.
- Ability to educate individuals on various health topics, including nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
