Junior/Assistant Specialist- Sabatino Lab
Department of Neurology
The Sabatino lab is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organized Junior/Assistant Specialist to assist in several research projects related to the role of T cells in multiple sclerosis (MS). As part of this, we have several upcoming projects characterizing T cells from MS patients and developing novel therapeutics.
The role of the Junior/Assistant Specialist will center on flow cytometry analysis, but there will also be opportunities to perform cell culture and T cell sequencing experiments.
Patient visit schedules are constantly changing, so some scheduling flexibility and a positive attitude are important. Other Position Duties:
• Design and test different multi-parameter flow cytometry panels
• Perform and analyze flow cytometry immunophenotyping of multiple human tissue types –
• Cell culture and in vitro T cell stimulation assays
• Potential to assist in preparation single cell sequencing libraries
• Perform calculations, compile and summarize data, select methods of presentation, prepare charts, graphs, tables, etc, draft report of problems, methods, results and tentative conclusions.
• Recognize irregularities and invalid results and troubleshoot experiments accordingly.
Required Qualifications:
• Junior Specialist - Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience
• Assistant Specialist - Master’s degree or a baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience
• Significant prior experience with flow cytometry is required, including basic understanding of the technology, ability to generate and test multi-parameter antibody panels (including compensation), and ability to analyze and summarize flow cytometry data semi-independently.
• Ability and desire to work well with colleagues, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and develop an efficient and flexible work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Additional experience with bioinformatics programming, e.g. R or python, is a welcome skill.
