Senior Accountant

CONWAY, DEUTH & SCHMIESING, PLLP

OVERVIEW
Perform a wide variety of accounting, audit and tax assignments under the supervision of different Managers and Partners. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Work closely with Partner-in-Charge on engagements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Record transactions in ledgers, prepare trial balances and simple financial statements using computer software
• Reconcile accounts to control accounts
• Perform scheduled computations of accruals, property and equipment, and calculate depreciation expense
• Prepare payroll tax, sales or other business tax and personal income tax returns
• Assist in proofing financial statements, tax returns and other documents
• Preparation of compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements
• General bookkeeping, payroll and business consultation
• Collect appropriate data for tax preparation
• Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, capital, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position
• Devise and implement systems for general accounting
• Preparation of spreadsheets as deemed necessary
• Responsible for all aspects of client accounts including client meetings and presentations
• Assist with staff training
• Supervise projects and assign work as necessary
• Develop client relationships
• Perform other accounting, auditing and tax duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by Managers and Partners
• Promote CDS's additional services and present at client seminars
• Assist with firm initiatives
• Mentors staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager and Partners

QUALIFICATIONS
• Accounting degree or educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam required, CPA preferred
• Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and taxation
• Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
• Effective, timely, and professional communication skills
• Flexible team player who is also able to work independently
• Ability to maintain confidentiality required
• Desire to continue to develop and enhance skills
• Exceptional time management skills with an ability to organize and prioritize projects, and meet deadlines
• Optimistic
• Strong computer aptitude
