The anticipated salary range for this role is between $135,000.00 and $181,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Control Office - Sr. Operational Risk Analyst is responsible for adherence to SMBC MANUBANK (MANUBANK) Operational Risk Management Framework and Program to ensure operational risk is identified, assessed, monitored, and reported enterprise wide. Under the direction of the Business Control Officer, the Sr. Operations Risk Analyst will provide oversight over various Program components, including the Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), issue management and reporting, and operational risk event and loss reporting. The BCO Control and Monitoring Analyst will have a thorough understanding of operational risk frameworks and controls and be able to assist the business with 1st Line of Defense (LOD) risk management activities and escalate any new emerging risks or issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses and regulatory scrutiny from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.
• Assess, monitor, and perform check and effectiveness of activities performed by the business unit and support functions have implemented the Program effectively and in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
• Responsible for driving the RCSA process to ensure consistent use of established framework and risk taxonomy for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting on risk issues. Conduct challenge of the business unit’s RCSA inputs to ensure risk is properly identified and assessed.
• Facilitate operational risk event data collection, including the detailed review of specific operational risk issues/events and trends to identify significant or emerging risks and ensure appropriate remediation plans are implemented.
• Manage the collection and review of operational loss data. Analyze the root cause of process breakdowns to identify trends and recommend appropriate control improvements.
• Identify emerging risks within business drivers, regulatory and/or industry changes to ensure Bank policies and processes are adequately meeting these risks. Monitor the development or revision of policies and processes required to meet these risks.
• Partner with business unit to develop periodic risk management metrics to quantify the unit’s exposure to various types of operational risk. Monitor overall risk level within the line of business and the quality of the control environment to ensure alignment with the Bank’s Risk Appetite Statements.
• Review and evaluate new product/service and business initiative proposals to proactively identify and assess operational risks, challenge the proposed control environment, and provide recommendations to enhance the proposal.
• Recommend and implement industry best practices to continuously improve the Program and maintain alignment with regulatory requirements and standards.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with process owners, business management, and other Program stakeholders. Build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and business owners, and foster a compliance mindset across the organization.
