We're looking for an experienced iOS engineer to help us with a challenge with Apple's Screen Time API.
Here is our challenge:
- We use Apple’s Screen Time API to block iOS apps depending on certain rules.
- We get paid by other apps to implement our technology to improve their retention. ‘Do a Spanish exercise before you can scroll on Instagram.’
- With the Screen Time API, blocking an app means that a full-screen nudge is placed over the app to be blocked. There are two action buttons on this nudge.
- We want to use one of these action buttons to redirect users to our app or another app with a deep link. Officially, Apple says that this is not possible.
- However, there are three apps (including App Locker) that have managed to do this. I have attached the UX for you.
- At the moment, we trigger a notification when tapping the shield action, behind which we then pack deep links. Okay, but sometimes problematic for focus mode users because the notification sometimes doesn’t go through due to the focus modes.
- Here is how the UX with the one-tap shield action looks like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dUfCQLKnwQ2pA9cLKIal4rCQyjrqSe1a/view?usp=sharing
Desired outcome:
- Help us implement the described UX (see video): 1) Shield comes up, 2) shield action is tapped, 3) direct forwarding to an app without notification as an intermediate step.
- This gets us through the App Store Review.
Please read the following:
- The first one to send us a screen recording of a POC (isolated demo app) and show that their implementation works, gets the $750 bounty.
- Please write me in concise form why you’re the right person for this project.
- We don’t accept automated offers.
- We only compensate the project if it is successfully completed.
- We have the Screen Time API knowledge in the team.
Delivery needed by end of calendar week 40 (October 4th, 2024).
