Under the direction of the Imaging Manager, performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment and initiative and ingenuity to apply prescribed procedures. May work independently or assist in performing other imaging procedures .
Minimum qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalency, minimum. Graduate of a radiographic program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Two years college or business school also preferred.
Registered with ARRT. Washington State Certification or Registration. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Two years minimum MRI experience preferred
Current CT/XRAY experience also preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
Acts in accordance with hospital policies with high degree of professional ethics and conduct. Discretion must be used in several areas such as patient care and scheduling.
Contact Imaging Manager regarding equipment malfunctions, supply requests and any unusual situations that depart from standard policies and procedures.
Utilizes magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to produce cross-section images of patient’s internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues.
Accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the MRI scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Responsible for the care of patients of all ages. Each staff member will rely on his/her past experiences, as well as their professional training with the geriatric and pediatric patient, to meet these standards.
Use all safety forms the Imaging Department provides prior to bringing patient into the MRI exam room.
Demonstrates proper infection control practices
Attend routine and mandatory meetings and in-services
Perform all MRI examinations ordered by physician including routine and special procedures performed in the department
Responsible for proper safety precautions for MRI Magnet for all patients and hospital staff
Assures correct exam is scheduled and properly completed charged and sent to PACS
Prioritizes workload to assure completion of exams
Performs other duties as assigned
