Summary: Position is responsible for the effective management, leadership and revenue growth of Pioneer Press Print and Digital portfolio of products. Leadership will include directing and inspecting sales staff performance, coordinating & distributing sales strategies as well as financial forecasting and reporting on revenue results. Position will work with local Pioneer Press outside sales executives & inside sales call center to execute future opportunities. What you will do: Serve as the advertising sales manager responsible for the local territory sales, special project management, insides sales and support team performance Driving advertising revenue: retain and increase current advertising revenue, prospect new accounts and increase sales activity Provide leadership for local sales team in understanding and selling the full portfolio of solutions including print opportunities in the Pioneer Press and digital solutions with Adtaxi and Twincities.com Manage and coach sales executives in the field and on calls with existing and potential clients Conduct sales meetings sharing best practices, market research, strategic ideas and insights Work closely with ad production and vendors to successfully implement any new product launches Work with ad department sales managers, corporate support team, and digital fulfilment team to coordinate sales support resources Collaborate cross organizational boundaries, and actively contribute to ad department decisions to achieve results Seek out, adopt and model use of (new) technology to support initiatives and grow business Position utilizes and integrates broad business knowledge and advanced communication; descriptive writing skills, financial skills including revenue forecasting and pricing analysis What you will bring: College degree preferred or equivalent experience Three - five years minimum successful experience in direct, face-to-face sales Two - Three years minimum sales management experience, media environment a plus Experience working in consultative sales, cold calling, diagnosing client needs, time management, client retention and problem-solving Computer skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint software Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, & dynamic environment Professional, outgoing & friendly with ability to adapt sales techniques Collaborative and strong leadership qualities to motivate sales and support team Excellent decision-making and judgment skills are mandatory and should include proficiency in the following areas: revenue forecasting, effective 1:1 coaching, customer relations, negotiation, business ethics, developing business plans, hiring/training, marketing strategy and selling with a documented sales process Who we are: The St Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print.
