Investigative Analyst

Oversee and maintain the Sexual Assault Evidence Kit (SAEK) Case Management System by gathering, entering and analyzing data referenced to sexual assault cases. Work with detectives assigned to the Sex Crimes Criminal Investigative Division in the preparation of cases by gathering administrative data, researching trends, and collecting evidence data. Communicate with team members and verify that all SAEK tasks are on schedule, ensure proper reporting, and case management goals are complete. Generate reports on serial offenders and other trackable data to supervisors and committee members of the Albuquerque Sexual Assault Evidence Response Team (ASERT). Verify that information on databases remain secure, as well as ensure that all team members complete their tasks, work cooperatively with the team, and maintain the integrity of all investigative information.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social science, forensic science, chemistry, biology, or physical science; and

One (1) years of public safety, crime scene investigation, or crime scene evidence collection experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 21 years of age.

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

• Methods and techniques of crime scene investigations
• Methods and techniques of crime scene processing, diagramming, documentation, evidence collection, handling and packaging to gather data
• Principles and procedures of record keeping for data analysis
• Principles, practices, methodologies and techniques of crime activity analysis and prevention, law enforcement and police records processing
• Methods and equipment of computer and applicable software program operation
• Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and safety regulations
• Collect, analyze, and document complex statistical data
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Compose plans, including goals, objectives, measures, strategies, analytical methods, process, product and timelines for criminal cases
• Analyze situations and determine the proper course of action
• Prepare complex technical written and verbal reports
• Work independently in the absence of supervision
• Interpret and explain City and Police policies and procedures
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Communicate clearly and concisely
