Overview: This position supports the mission-critical NY Gov authentication system, providing access to New York State government web applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for high-level design, technical standards, software coding standards, tools, and platforms, focusing on Java web application development, WebSphere, OKTA integration, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install and deploy J2EE applications on production and non-production WebSphere cluster environments.
• Troubleshoot user issues in staging/QA environments and communicate with users to resolve application-related issues.
• Design and implement J2EE design patterns using Rational Software Architect (RSA), including patterns like Session Façade, Front Controller, and Data Access Object.
• Develop reusable and distributed components for J2EE applications.
• Design and develop UI screens using AJAX, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Ensure code compliance with NY State accessibility standards.
• Estimate project requirements, risks, and benefits and communicate with the Project Manager and users.
• Monitor and resolve service requests/incidents using the ITSM tool.
• Develop and maintain REST/SOAP web services solutions.
Mandatory Qualifications:
• 7+ Years of experience developing Java web applications in WebSphere (version 8 or later).
• 7+ Years of experience using IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) or Rational System Architect (RSA) (version 8 or later).
• 7+ Years of experience developing and maintaining Java web applications using LDAP.
• 7+ Years of experience developing accessible websites compliant with 508/WCAG 2.0 standards.
• 4+ Years of experience integrating Okta security into Java web applications.
• 7+ Years of experience developing and maintaining Java web applications using web services (REST/SOAP).
• 7+ Years ofexperience developing and maintaining Java web applications using JSF.
• 7+ Years ofexperience developing and maintaining Java web applications using JSP.
• 7+ Years of experience using JavaScript in web applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
Security Requirements:
• Mandatory ITS Security Agreements.
• Fingerprint-based background check.
Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Negotiable), with 1 week of 24x7 off-hours support on a rotational basis.
