Northwell Health is seeking a full-time Research Scientist to join the Surgery Academics & Research Department. The Research Scientist is responsible for utilizing established methods, techniques, and procedures in the performance of standard scientific research while performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation as part of a research team.
The ideal candidate would be an MD, PhD or have an advanced science degree. Three or more years of research experience is required. Previous experience in writing IRB protocols, industry funded research and conducting clinical trials. Experience in Ex-Vivo bovine large bowel ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection) research training model. Knowledge of statistics and experience in SPSS statistical package is a plus.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to design and execution of research and clinical experiments under the guidance of principle investigator (PI). Submit and renew Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, and work with Human Research Protection Program and Clinical Research Office. Occasionally need to be a lab correspondent with FDA. Submit and renew funded research proposals via Grant management system. Operates, calibrates, and maintains highly sophisticated equipment. Write scientific meeting abstracts and publish study results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Provides analytic and narrative input into scientific abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. Process human blood and tissue specimens and maintain a satellite hospital biorepository. Assist on other research or training activities when needed. Other responsibilities as appropriate.
