The successful candidate for the “Senior Scala Engineer” role, will be reporting to the Head of Client Digital Technology, Post Trade. They will be responsible for the of developing an AWS cloud-based critical market infrastructure service using predominately scala. Key Responsibilities Build, deliver and maintain the multiple components of the Equities platform ensuring timely delivery of work items. Resolve a high impact problem through in-depth evaluation of sophisticated architectures, business processes and industry standards. Serve as advisor to develop highly resilient and future proof solutions. Contribute to research and suggest for new projects for the Equities platform. Willing to take new responsibilities based on projects need and circumstances. Contribute and guide the program initiatives in engineering excellence and learning and development. Ensure work is well documented and communicated with customer expectations managed. Key Skills and Experience Microservices architecture Excellent understanding of microservices designs, its pitfalls, and standard processes. Knowledge of Domain Driven Design and event driven architecture. Experience working with containerised and orchestrated services using Docker and Kubernetes. Familiar with the concept of service mesh such as Istio. Experience building and maintain dev-ops pipelines for delivering applications ideally using GitLab. Experience using shift left testing principles and frameworks using technology such as Junit, Cucumber, Gherkin, Contract Test (PACT), TestContainers or other similar technology. Knowledge of using eventing and messaging infrastructure such as Kafka and MQ Strong experience in functional programming and object-oriented programming. Deep understanding of Scala including Akka (for building concurrent, distributed, and resilient message-driven applications), Play Framework (for web applications), Cats/Scalaz (for functional programming abstractions) Proficiency in developing and delivering enterprise grade Scala applications. Experience with data structures, algorithms, concurrency & multi-threading. Database Management Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational DBs, such as Postgres. Solid understanding of object storages such as AWS S3 Knowledge of Database version control tools such as Flyway and Liquibase Cloud Architecture Public cloud preferably AWS. Cloud-based technology like AWS Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM Understanding of cloud networking. You understand and believe in the ethos of agile working. You have experience of working in Scrum/Kanban model. You can participate and actively collaborate and contribute to sprint ceremonies including Product Backlog Refinement You have the experience of collaborating with multi-functional teams in scaled agile setups. You have some experience of writing applications using Java. You have developed Web applications using ReactJS. 8+yrs of relevant experience, defining level of seniority. Compensation/Benefits Information (New York applicants only): LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $133,400 - $248,000. Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage.
