Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is accountable for supplier product & service supply compliance to all applicable engineering, manufacturing, and quality system specifications. The position accountabilities include:
• Product and service compliance to specifications and standards.
• Development and maintenance of a Supplier Quality System.
• Supplier surveillance.
• Supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) approvals.
• Supplier Fixed Process approval and compliance.
• Supplier Non-Conformance/Quality Escapes and corrective actions.
• Supplier audits and corrective actions.
Position Responsibilities
• Perform supplier pre-approval audits.
• Supplier development and tracking of Quarterly Scorecards for the Preferred Supplier List.
• Establish, maintain, and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
• Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor supplier compliance with the Supplier Quality System.
• Travel to supplier locations to inspect product quality processes and conduct quality reviews.
• Facilitate communication and interpretation of engineering and manufacturing specifications with supplier technical teams.
• Manage implementation of product and service specification changes.
• Suppliers change control compliance with engineering standard.
• Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported, and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
• Establish, monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain key performance indicators (KPI's).
• Utilize problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
• Liaise with Engineering, Quality and SCM on quality related matters to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
• Assist Engineering, Quality and SCM in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials.
• Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects.
• Develop long-term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
• Member of Internal Audit Team.
• This position requires ability to travel domestically and internationally more than 50%.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science discipline
• Minimum of 5 years supplier quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience of working within an ISO 9001 approved quality management
• US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
• Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
Desired Qualifications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with suppliers and co-workers.
• FDA/ISO/TS quality system knowledge and experience necessary (any or all).
• ASQ certified Quality Auditor and/or Quality Engineer highly desirable.
• Technical competence and understanding engineered products, services, manufacturing and business processes, and systems.
• Knowledge and experience in control plan development, product print and specification understanding.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner.
• Knowledge in the use and application of lean six sigma tools.
• Strong measurement skills, including hands-on experience with calipers, micrometers, tool scopes, optical comparators and vision system.
• Strong analytical skills necessary.
