Job Summary:

The Risk Management Lead plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the first line of defense risk management programs and frameworks. This position ensures the effective capture and management of risk data, develops risk mitigation strategies, and coordinates with the Enterprise Risk Management Center of Excellence (COE). As a liaison for the Center of Service and Support (CoSA), you will provide leadership and direction to manage and monitor existing and emerging risks associated with business activities. This role is remote within the continental U.S., with occasional business travel required.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and oversee the implementation and maintenance of risk management controls, programs, and frameworks.
• Guide the development and maintenance of internal and external vendor governance frameworks.
• Establish quality standards, operating policies, and procedures; direct implementation of approved changes.
• Identify opportunities for risk and quality control improvements; support major initiatives and system/process improvements.
• Manage long-term initiatives, ad hoc requests, and ongoing risk management responsibilities.
• Coordinate with control partners (e.g., Audit, Compliance, Operational Risk) and regulatory examiners to avoid duplication of effort.
• Design and implement controls to address strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
• Establish and monitor key performance and risk indicators to identify emerging risk trends.
• Lead a team in assessing operational risks, conducting testing, and managing emerging risk exposures.
• Oversee the governance and administration of compliance and operational documents and procedures.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and developments; develop action plans for initiatives with regulatory impact.
• Support discussions with regulators (e.g., OCC, FDIC, CFPB) regarding the risk control program and results.
• Keep senior management informed of significant changes and developments.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required; or 4 additional years of related experience can substitute for the degree.
• 10 years of experience in Business Management, Operations, Risk Management, Audit, Control, or Reporting required.
• 4 years of leadership experience demonstrating management responsibilities required.
• Executive-level knowledge of industry regulations and operational risk concepts.
• Proven ability to navigate and operate effectively across multiple organizational levels.
• Knowledge of federal laws and regulations related to risk management, including OCC Heightened Standards, BSA/AML, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP, TILA/REG Z, SCRA, FCRA, MLA.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in risk aggregation.
• Understanding of the full risk lifecycle from identification to mitigation.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly in risk analytics.
• Experience in developing board reporting.
