The Role Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. We believe that empowering our people and helping them reach their full potential is essential for the long-term success of both Lumen and our customers. Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025. Location This position is fully remote/ work from home. The Main Responsibilities This internship is for a Software Engineer / Developer supporting the Corporate Systems people-centric systems, such as HR, Legal, Commissions, Identity Management, amongst others. This role would be responsible for parts of the development, integration, and implementation of features of the software, as well as the research and documentation aspects that come with the support. As part of this internship, you’ll learn how to develop and test code efficiently while gaining real world experience working on applications that support our internal customers. With mentoring from Lead Software Engineers, the intern will learn multiple systems and be able to use their skills while coordinating with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Day to Day responsibilities will include: Daily Monitoring of existing programs and troubleshooting errors by identifying any observed bottlenecks and bugs, and suggesting solutions / technical alternatives to mitigate and address these issues; Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code, and improve/streamline processes and systems Partnering with other departments to analyze integrations that are changed or new and understanding and documenting the requirements; designing, developing and testing changes as part of the development lifecycle process Interact with team members (end-users, developers, infrastructure support) in a team-oriented fashion Track support ticket progress, and ensure tickets are successfully implemented through following up with fellow developers and end users. 10-week plan - Will include partnering with the existing leads in this area on a daily basis to receive guidance, knowledge and assignments. It may include upgrade plans and execution for applications and support of in-progress projects. Data preparation for application processing will be part of the scope of work. What We Look For in a Candidate Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made. Required qualifications Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship Graduating August 2025 – May 2027 Preferred fields include bur not limited to: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025) US work authorization is required. Individuals needing visa sponsorship are not eligible. Proficiency and understanding of: Relational database basics (i.e. - Oracle, MS SQL ) Familiarity with the .NET framework, and developing C#/.NET Familiarity of Visual Studio development environment, or similar integrated development environment (IDE) Basic understanding of Design Patterns and Object-Oriented Concepts. Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) Familiarity of Agile methodology Ability to write technical documentation for internal or external developer/technical audiences. Preferred qualifications Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JSON Requests, and Responsive Web Development is a PLUS. Familiarity in other languages such as JavaScript is a PLUS. Basic familiarity with GIT, Subversion, or similar version control systems is a plus Compensation Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.
