Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director of Video Quality Analytics to join our global streaming platform and provide strategic leadership in ensuring optimal video playback experiences for our customers. As the Director, you will be responsible for leading and empowering a team, driving the monitoring of key video playback Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), defining the overall strategy for data collection, translating complex data into actionable insights & executive summaries, and collaborating with other cross-functional teams. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in fostering continuous improvement and delivering exceptional streaming performance to our global audience.

Responsibilities
• Take full ownership of our data analysis processes and pipeline, and change the game in terms of how we analyze, visualize, and communicate about our playback performance data
• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for both reactive and proactive monitoring of video playback Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on our global streaming platform.
• Define the vision and strategy for data analysis, including identifying new KPIs, and establish robust processes and tools to effectively gather, store, and visualize data.
• Effectively represent the team by communicating and presenting findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Translate complex video playback KPI data into concise executive summaries, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with other teams across the organization to analyze playback data, support complex investigations, and contribute to KPI improvement through the introduction of new stability and resiliency features.
• Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to a team of skilled data engineers, setting performance goals, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to video playback monitoring and analysis, and champion their adoption within the organization.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role overseeing video playback monitoring and analysis in a high-traffic streaming service, preferably within the entertainment industry.
• Deep understanding of video playback technologies, streaming protocols, content delivery networks (CDNs), and associated KPIs.
• Proven track record in developing and executing data collection strategies, including defining new KPIs, establishing processes, and leveraging data visualization tools.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and visualization of data.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively translate complex data into easily understandable executive summaries.
• Experience collaborating well with cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of data engineers.
• Analytical mindset, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
