Position title: Pre-six Electronic Music Lecturer
Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $8,531 - $10,492 (based on salary points 1- 8). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring units instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position Description
The Department of Music at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be called upon to teach courses in the History, Theory, and Practice of Electronic Music at the lower- and upper-division course levels. Includes large lecture courses (e.g. History, Literature, and Technology of Electronic Music; Artificial Intelligence and Music, etc.), major-level courses (e.g. Field Recording: Mapping and Composing Sound, Identity, and Place; Electronic Music: Synthesis & Composition I/II/III, etc.), and performance-practice workshops & performing ensembles (Workshop in Electronic Music; Recording Workshop; Live Electroacoustic Music Ensemble, etc.)
Applicants with expertise in college-level teaching experience or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Music Department's undergraduate and graduate programs (Music Ph.D., D.M.A, and M.A.) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Masters Degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in music; or four years of artistic and creative work consisting of a national and/or international record of performances, exhibitions, or installations in music venues, museums, galleries, and festivals, and evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web, and/or book publications.
