We are seeking a highly skilled designer/drafter to join our team as an independent contractor, working on a range of design projects for both the firm and our valued clients.
Job Overview:
As a designer/drafter, you will be responsible for creating detailed architectural plans and designs with minimal direction. You will be expected to manage your workflow independently, delivering high-quality drawings that meet THD’s standards and client specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, as is the ability to work with little to no supervision. This role requires both creative problem-solving and technical expertise to bring our clients' visions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create detailed architectural plans, layouts, and technical drawings using AutoCAD
• Work independently to complete projects from initial concept to final design with minimal assistance or direction.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project goals, translating these into well-executed designs.
• Ensure all designs meet building codes, zoning laws, and city regulations, and adhere to our quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors and our team as needed to ensure smooth project execution and clear communication of design intent.
• Stay current with industry trends, design innovations, and local building regulations to ensure designs are both modern and compliant.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail and timely delivery of designs.
• Provide revisions and updates to plans as needed, based on feedback from clients or project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in architectural design, specifically in residential projects.
• 10+ years experience with AutoCAD
• Strong ability to draft/design independently, with little to no oversight.
• Solid understanding of local building codes, permit processes, and zoning laws.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients and contractors effectively.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines consistently.
• Experience with structural detailing.

Compensation:This is a contract position, and compensation will be based on the scope and complexity of each project. Competitive rates are available based on experience and project size.

Pay: $35.00 - $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 20 per week
