Kelly Science, Engineering, Technology and Telecom, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, is currently seeking a Sr. R&D Engineer for a long-term contract to hire at one of our Global Medical Device clients located in Irvine, CA.

Our Client is a global leader in the science of diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. The company partners with clinicians to develop innovative technologies that improve the quality of care for arrhythmia patients worldwide. This role is a full-time, fully benefited position. About the Role:

The Sr R&D Engineer will be supporting a dynamic, fast-paced, close-knit team developing new electrophysiology catheters. This role supports the development of new catheters for the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation. Project support includes the design and documentation of tools, fixtures, and machines for the manufacture of company products. Assist in the design and testing of company products in the feasibility stage. Support design change-related activities and documentation for the medical industry. Write reports, work instructions, test methods, and procedures. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of his/her field and related sciences and disciplines. Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, and biomedical) is required.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of medical device industry experience is required.
• Structural heart experience is highly preferred.
• Preferred experience working with Nitinol-related devices.
• CAD and SolidWorks are required.
• Understanding of concept development, 3D modeling, creating 2D drawings, GD&T, rapid prototyping and mfg. methods.
• Rapid prototyping, fixture design, and tooling preferred.
• Statistical analysis and design of experiences (DOE) preferred.
• Process excellence, such as Lean and Six Sigma certification, is preferred.
• Ability to travel to Santa Rosa, CA monthly.
