RN- Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (Detail Opportunity)

Duties

This detail opportunity will be for a 30 day placement to support a temporary need though, may be extended up to 120 days.

The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO) provides assistance with;
• CCC: Organizational restructure, admin alignments and roles, redescriptions, communication coordination, reporting, HR and all policies and procedures, leave usage, coordinate overview and overhaul.
• GEC: Oversight and guidance on consolidated unit creation, reporting, support for GEC Lead.
• CNO Office: Structure review, travel/site visits, policy tracking VACO and CNO Office, stand up Nurse Executive Council, take the lead on other CNO Office councils/committees, structure monthly CNO/ADPCS meeting, strategize VISN level contracts to support facility need.
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO) executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care. The Nurse IV reports directly to the VISN Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for administrative functions and oversight of their assigned VISN level programs. Functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with Patient Care Service and other services under the CNO. Must establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of medical center and VISN personnel and relate effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels. Key relationships with the facility ADPCS and VISN program leads are needed to;
(1) Assist Associate Directors, Patient Care Services (ADPCS) and Programmatic VISN leads to carry out the functions and activities expected of them,
(2) Contribute ideas, oversight and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of nursing and other programs aligned under the CNO VISN-wide,
(3) Assist in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs, and
(4) Collaborate with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care.

The DCNO has overall management of nursing practice, nursing informatics, staffing methodology, clinical contact center, veterans experience officer/patient advocacy, and patient/bed flow for the Network. She/he is the Staffing Methodology Coordinator for the Network. The DCNO is the catalyst for the integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals. She/he champions a High Reliability Organization with a culture of safety founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based health care solutions based on prevention, not punishment, with collective mindfulness.
