The Position
TerraCotta is seeking a Research Director at the TerraCotta Lab, TerraCotta’s research and methodology development hub led by the firm's visionary founder, Dr. Tingting Zhang. You will be working with a team of ambitious researchers from various disciplines to transform the industry of CRE credit, a $4 trillion marketplace. The CRE credit industry offers significant opportunities to apply state-of-the-art quantitative research methodologies to improve its processes and decision-making. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most accomplished minds in the CRE credit space globally through the firm's various external academic and business partnerships. In this role, you will apply your original research training to solve some of the most challenging problems in CRE credit investment. Your efforts will be supported by cutting-edge analytical tools and a vast dataset curated by the firm over the years, and your research and system/methodology innovations will be tested and integrated into TerraCotta's investment processes in short cycles.
Candidates applying for the New York City office will need to initially be in our Los Angeles office.
The base salary for the position is $200,000. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, with the amount depending on individual and organizational performance. The actual compensation offer made to a candidate may differ from the posted hiring salary, based on the candidate's work experience, education, and/or skill level. TerraCotta offers 401k contributions and comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
• Participate in setting research agenda in a team and individual setting;
• Present findings, proposals for methodology innovations, and potential inclusions in the investment system to the firm’s data and investment team;
• Liaise between the TerraCotta team and external joint venture partners on certain research projects;
• Attend conferences related to the firm’s pursuit; and
• Write white papers and thought pieces.
