Locally Led Development Initiatives Pod/Team lead: Knowledge Management, Policy, Training and Events Pod Lead
Position Description
Locally Led Development Initiatives, within the Local, Faith, and Transformative Partnerships Hub in the Bureau for Development, Democracy and Innovation (IPI/LFT/LLDI), is seeking a Knowledge Management, Policy, Training and Events Pod Lead to lead and provide strategic direction to LLDI’s programs and relevant USAID localization efforts.
The incumbent will provide strategic direction, management of both client relationships and team members, and technical expertise as a subject matter expert for LLDI’s Knowledge Management, Policy, Training, and Events (KMPoTE) efforts in support to Local Works core Mission-led programs, Unsolicited Solutions for Locally Led Development (US4LLD) programming, and global research awards. The incumbent will lead the design and integration of systems and tools to facilitate access to knowledge and organizational learning across LLDI’s multiple program areas and workstreams. They will collaborate across LLDI Pods (teams) to coordinate timely support and solutions to knowledge management and organizational learning challenges and opportunities identified across program teams. They will also work closely with the Senior Strategic Communications specialist to develop and disseminate key information to support Missions and the Agency to advance locally led development.
Background
Locally led development is the process in which local actors – encompassing individuals, communities, networks, organizations, private entities, and governments – set their own agendas, develop solutions, and bring the capacity, leadership, and resources to make those solutions a reality. The Locally Led Development Initiatives (LLDI) are enhancing and advancing USAID’s ability to support local leadership and ownership.
Through the following programs and opportunities, LLDI is advancing USAID’s ability to support locally led development:
• Local Works: Working with USAID Missions to drive innovation and experimentation in locally led development.
• Unsolicited Solutions for Locally Led Development (US4LLD): Supporting innovative ideas for locally led development.
• Locally Led Development Research (LLD Research): Generating evidence and learning to drive a more effective approach to locally led development.
• Locally Led Development Annual Program Statement (APS): Enabling USAID Missions to solicit, co-create, and fund innovative approaches to locally led development.
• Small Project Assistance Program (SPA): Partnering with the Peace Corps to address community priorities and boost local capacity.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the work of the Knowledge Management, Policy, Training and Events team (KMPoTE), including but not limited to providing feedback and support, assigning duties, allocating responsibilities, prioritizing work products, establishing project management processes and timelines, and soliciting and applying client feedback.
• Lead the KMPoTE team’s technical advisory support and joint prioritization, design, leadership, development, and utilization of timely, high quality knowledge management tools, processes and learning products in close coordination with “client” teams across LLDI.
• Primary client teams encompass the Leadership Team, Mission Support, US4LLD, Peace Corps/SPA, Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Research, and Communications teams within LLDI.
• Tools, processes, and learning products may include but are not limited to:
• Data management system to track key information about Missions and programs supported with Local Works funding.
• Local Works Mission “toolbox” of resources on key locally led development practices.
