POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Power Transformer Design Software Developer
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
LOCATION: Canonsburg, PA, USA
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
STATUS: Exempt

Position Description Summary
The employee will be required to perform software developmental activities for engineering department to improve current productivity and create new methods and process. Understanding of theories behind electromagnetism is essential. Further, understanding of materials with respect to their properties for stress, strain and deflection is also necessary. Analyzing data collected and data provided using statistics will also be required
Essential Functions
• Document specifications, schematics, and diagrams regarding in each project or assignment
• Design beta version, troubleshoot potential issues, make changes to fix any issues, and create specifications and other details for these systems.
• Use their expertise to assist in the avoidance future issues; helping to avoid problems and addressing any issues that might arise in the deployment and operation as necessary
• Designing and laying out new software programs
• Creating system models and simulations
• Testing new systems and making design changes as needed
• Designing and implantation of Testing Software
• Producing necessary reports and documentation
• Assisting in the development of new systems for power transformers engineering, manufacturing, testing, etc.
• All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Must have good communication skills – oral and written
• Good computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, programming
• Strong understanding of Electromagnetics, physics, or mathematical concepts
• Ability to work independently or on a team
Education and Experience
• Good understanding in Electromagnetics and material (stress, strain, deflection, etc.)
• Good understanding of mathematical concepts
• Good familiarity with Object oriented programming such as C, VB.Net, Java, etc.)
• Some experience with database programming (less than one year is also ok)
Physical Job Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Working Conditions
Monday through Friday and on-call may be required.
