Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the hospitality space, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their team for a remote role! The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in automating infrastructure provisioning and performing operational duties across multiple platforms. These platforms include WebLogic/WebSphere Application Server, Java containers, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Database, Kubernetes, Terraform, Red Hat and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL), AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Services, and Git repositories. This individual will collaborate closely with teams across operations, development, and QA to ensure smooth deployment and management of both proprietary and open-source solutions. The DevOps Engineer will also provide technical mentorship and leadership to junior team members.

Core Responsibilities:

Automation & Orchestration (40%):
• Develop, optimize, and maintain automation and orchestration solutions to manage cloud and on-premise infrastructure, utilizing tools such as Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, and Jira. This will involve automating various platforms, including application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere), databases (Oracle), and microservices running on Kubernetes clusters across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Research & Continuous Improvement (25%):
• Research emerging technologies related to automation, orchestration, and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker). Serve as an expert resource for the team, guiding others in best practices, troubleshooting, and introducing new automation methodologies to improve efficiency.

Collaboration on Systems Deployment (10%):
• Work closely with the solutions engineering team to deploy new systems and platforms, aligning with defined technical guidelines and strategies. This includes documenting deployment processes and creating detailed reports on the systems involved, particularly for Kubernetes-based environments.

Project Estimation & Reporting (10%):
• Accurately estimate the scope and time required for assigned projects, maintain clear communication with stakeholders, and track progress to ensure timely delivery of solutions.

Mentorship & Leadership (10%):
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, offering technical direction on projects and providing insights into automation, orchestration, and Kubernetes management.

Other Duties (5%):
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support overall team objectives.

Requirements:

Education:
• A degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is required.

Skills & Expertise:
• Strong collaborative skills, able to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring other team members.
• Ability to think critically and solve complex problems independently.
• Familiarity with IT service management processes such as ITIL is beneficial.
• Experience working in Agile development environments is advantageous.
• Ability to work autonomously in a 24/7, globally distributed environment.

Technical Skills:
• Expertise in scripting (Shell, Python, Perl, PowerShell).
• Deep understanding of DevOps tools and methodologies, including Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, and Jira.
• Strong experience in system administration (Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, or Windows).
• Knowledge of web server management (Apache, NGINX, IIS) and application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere).
• Hands-on experience managing and scaling Kubernetes clusters in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Working knowledge of network and security protocols (HTTP, DNS, SSH, etc.).
