The Star City Comics & Games Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the Storefront and ensures that we are offering positive experiences to all our guests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: event scheduling, employee scheduling, training, and performance assessments, operations, product selection, inventory management, customer service, conflict resolution, community engagement, and advertising.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Familiarity with hobby game industry product lines such as Warhammer 40k, Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana TCG, Flesh and Blood, Star Wars TCG, Hobby Board Games, Pokémon, and Comic Books.
• 4 plus years of Brick-and-Mortar retail or equivalent experience.
• 2 plus years of management or leadership experience.
• Familiarity managing employee schedules.
• Experience ordering Hobby Industry merchandise.
• Ability to evaluate potential new and existing product lines.
• Some night and weekend shifts are required.
• Moderate to extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Publisher, and Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with managing a professional Facebook page and utilizing the events feature a plus.
• Experience with local marketing a plus.
• Familiarity with working within and managing a budget a plus.
• Familiarity with scheduling and running (40 person plus) in-store organized play events a plus.
• Available nights and weekends as required.
• High level of written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties:
• Create and maintain Employee Schedules, manage employee PTO requests, and ensure proper employee staffing.
• Maintain Storefront social media and website by posting event pictures, scheduling in-store events, and posting about new product arrivals.
• Submit product and financial reports as required.
• Regularly evaluate Storefront needs, policies, and procedures. Propose modifications and updates to make tasks and practices more efficient and/or cost-effective.
• Submit initial purchase orders, restock orders, and customer special orders for merchandise as well as food and beverages.
• Regularly review and reset store merchandise layout as needed.
• Ensure that all required post-event reporting and documentation is properly collected and submitted on time.
• Coordinate monthly event scheduling with the Assistant General Manager - Operations and ensure that scheduled events are enticing to players.
• Ensure building security by following proper opening and closing procedures and ensuring that all team members are doing the same.
• Maintain department-specific documentation and recordkeeping.
• Ensure team members are informed and familiar with new games or products being offered.
• Coordinate with other departmental managers for upcoming events and product releases. Submit media and product requests in a timely manner.
• Communicate and reinforce policies and procedures with the team.
• Resolve customer conflicts in a professional and timely manner while following company guidelines.
Supervisory Duties - Manager:
• Manage the overall workflow of the department and ensure goals are being met.
• Conduct employee check-ins or touch-base meetings, and delegate as needed.
• Recommend and issue disciplinary action.
• Perform administrative tasks for the department, delegating to Assistant Manager as needed.
• Engage with other Managers and Upper Management regarding company plans and changes; communicate pertinent information to the department.
• Participate in Manager’s Meeting and disseminate important information to the department.
Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:
• Regularly must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for short distances.
• Regularly must stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and maintain full dexterity.
• Regularly required to utilize finger and hand dexterity with repetitive motion tasks.
• Frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Frequently operates a computer, utilizing a mouse and keyboard.
• Frequently required to continuously walk.
• Work environment often has airborne dust particles.
