Overview
The Medical Collector plays a crucial role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring timely collection of payments from patients and insurance companies. This position requires a keen understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and effective communication skills to navigate complex accounts. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess a strong grasp of medical terminology and coding practices.
Duties
• Review patient accounts to identify outstanding balances and initiate collection efforts.
• Communicate with patients regarding their account status, payment options, and any necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and obtain payment.
• Utilize medical coding knowledge (ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG) to accurately interpret claims and adjust accounts as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activities in the designated systems.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and appeals to ensure timely resolution.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Skills
• Proficient in medical terminology and understanding of medical billing processes.
• Experience with medical collection practices and familiarity with healthcare systems.
• Knowledge of medical coding standards, including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG classifications.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.55 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
