Copywriter

Department: Support

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Remote (USA)

Reporting To: Director of Support and Engagement

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 / year

Description
Desmos Studio is on a mission to help everyone learn math, love math, and grow with math. We do this by building a free suite of math tools, used by more than 75 million people around the world. As a Public Benefit Corporation, we’re committed to keeping our core products freely available for individual use, not relying on external funding, never allowing 3rd party advertising, and never selling our users’ data. We’re able to stand behind those commitments on the back of being healthily profitable with a transparent business model: we license our software to other companies to enhance their work and incorporate into their products.

Desmos Studio is seeking a Copywriter to join our team and help shape our product storytelling vision and style. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the team to craft engaging content for blog posts, social media, newsletters, and more, bringing the beauty of math to life through words. If you’re passionate about using language that's elegant and concise, and you’re eager to champion math in a way that resonates with diverse audiences, this role is a perfect fit.

What to Expect from the Role
• Your mastery of grammar rules—and the art of breaking those rules effectively.
• How to adapt content for diverse audiences, from math skeptics to professors and industry leaders.
• Techniques for rewriting sentences (wordsmithing) to improve tone and readability while preserving the original meaning.
• Our philosophies for support, design, technology, and equity.
• Our range of support resources, including help center articles, video tutorials, and user guides, used to support professional learning about our math tools.
• Our commitment to accessibility across our products and platform, including the motivation for, and requirements of, various accessibility standards.
• Our 1-year goals and long-term aspirations as a Public Benefit Corporation.
• Spend time getting to know our small, mighty team (there’s ~25 of us today!) and learn how we collaborate.
• Create original content and improve the clarity of team members’ content for our website, blog posts, and help center documentation.
• Build and deepen your knowledge of Desmos products and features by participating in demos, reviewing help center articles, and shadowing the team while responding to user inquiries.
• Support the team in crafting compelling conference proposals and presentation decks.
• Collaborate with the Product, Design, and Support teams to develop content guidelines that ensure brand consistency.
• Refine brand communication around our products and Desmos' role in high-stakes assessments.
• Play a significant role in strengthening our vision for delightful user interactions and consistent brand communication across our products.
• Build a portfolio of compelling content written for blog posts, social media, newsletters, and print materials.
• Attend your first in-person company offsite, and participate in company brainstorming sessions around things like our 1 year goals.
• Take a vacation to recharge. We do our best work when we’re happy and well-rested.

As part of the team, you’ll receive:
• Competitive compensation. Every full-time member of the team receives generous stock and salary compensation as well as a 401(k) match of up to 5% of annual salary.
• Great benefits. We offer medical, vision, dental, short-term disability, long term disability, and life insurance. We also offer Medical and Dependent Care FSAs, a minimum of 35 days off (including 25 full-company holidays), and more!
• Work-life balance. We’re a fully remote team, and we encourage time shifting. We value results over hours and sustainable, long-term success over short-term wins.
• Ownership and influence. As a member of a small team with few external stakeholders, each person here plays a major role in defining our policies, goals, culture, and benefits.
