Job Summary: 3M HIS is currently seeking a NLP Language Engineer to work on our internal knowledge resource services, which runs on a large-scale hosted cloud service for medical documentation processing.
Primary Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
• Provide Java expertise as well as lexical database maintenance based on production feedback and interaction with other research and development teams.
• Develop new NLP techniques in pursuit of improved information action and retrieval.
• Software design, coding, debugging and integration with Natural Language Processing services.
• Apply Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts and principles in software design and development.
• Work with other software engineers, clinical analysts, quality engineers, and other team members to design and build required systems.
• Adhere to team design and coding procedures and standards.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university.
• Minimum five (5)+ year experience using object oriented programming in enterprise application development.
• Minimum three (3)+ year experience with Regular Expressions.
• Minimum three (3)+ year experience working with Natural Language Processing.
• Minimum one (1)+ year experience with relational databases (coursework considered).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s or PhD Degree in Computational Linguistics.
• Experience with language processing, machine learning, and medical data.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience within an Agile, Scrum development environment.
• Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Perl.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, development environments and tools.
• Experience in Web Services standards and coding, especially REST API based service development.
