The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for men and women student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program.
• Program development:?Creating and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for individuals or teams
• Training:?Designing and implementing training plans based on scientific principles
• Supervision:?Overseeing training sessions and ensuring proper exercise performance
• Evaluation:?Assessing athletes' physical conditioning and progress, and tracking changes
• Motivation:?Providing support and encouragement when needed
• Lifestyle advice:?Making suggestions for fitness and nutrition, and helping clients set goals
• First aid:?Providing basic first aid care or knowing when to call for emergency help
• Collaboration:?Working with coaches, athletic trainers and other staff to incorporate goals into the program, prevent injuries, and facilitate rehabilitation
• Maintenance:?Helping with the upkeep of strength training facilities
• A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred, with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Physical Education.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, coaches, and administration.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files.
• Basic use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people.
• Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, student athlete-oriented team.
• Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness.
• Positive attitude.
• Ability to always maintain strict confidentiality including HIPAA requirements regarding medical records.
• Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision.
• Ability to pass a background check
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Requires certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
• The employee frequently is required to sit for periods of time and use hands to operate the computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle or utility vehicle.
• Must be able to stand for at least 4 straight hours.
• Must be able to perform a heavy workload. (Lift at least 50lbs to waist level)
• Must be able to run/jog 100 yards without stopping and able to see 100 yards with or without corrective lenses.
