We are seeking a skilled and innovative NLP Engineer with experience in Sentiment Analysis and Emotion Detection to develop an AI-driven NLP platform specifically designed for the mental health field. The platform will analyze client text and audio inputs to identify emotional states, detect key stressors, and assess conversational tone, offering counselors a deeper understanding of their clients' emotional baselines and enabling personalized therapy support. Key Responsibilities:
NLP Platform Development:
Design and implement an NLP platform capable of real-time sentiment analysis, keyword extraction, and emotion detection on client text and audio inputs.
Build and deploy NLP models to analyze client communications, identifying emotional states, patterns, and key issues in a therapeutic context.
Data Preprocessing and Model Training:
Preprocess client input data (e.g., tokenization, stop word removal, etc.) to optimize for NLP processing.
Fine-tune pre-trained models (e.g., BERT, RoBERTa, Emotion-Detect, etc.) for sentiment analysis, emotion recognition, and key phrase extraction, adapting models to a mental health context.
Sentiment Analysis and Emotion Detection:
Develop sentiment analysis pipelines to assess emotional tone and intensity, providing counselors with real-time insights during client sessions.
Integrate emotion-detection models to capture nuanced client feelings (e.g., anxiety, calm, frustration) that aid in therapeutic planning and response.
Real-Time Analytics and Visualization:
Create a counselor-facing dashboard that visualizes sentiment scores, trending keywords, and emotional baselines for each client, enabling easy access to critical insights.
Design session summaries to track emotional and conversational trends, helping counselors tailor therapy approaches effectively.
Voice and Audio Processing (Optional):
Work with speech-to-text technology to convert client audio inputs into text, enabling analysis of verbal inputs for sentiment and tone.
Implement voice analysis to detect tonal shifts and emotional cues in client speech.
Collaboration and Testing:
Collaborate with mental health professionals to understand specific counseling needs, iteratively refining the platform to improve relevance and impact.
Test and validate the accuracy and relevance of sentiment analysis outputs, making adjustments to minimize misinterpretations and bias.
Data Privacy and Compliance:
Ensure the platform complies with HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable privacy regulations, implementing data anonymization and encryption as needed.
Maintain strict data security protocols, especially regarding sensitive mental health data.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in NLP, with a focus on sentiment analysis, emotion detection, and keyword extraction.
Proficiency in Python and NLP libraries such as spaCy, NLTK, Transformers (Hugging Face), and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Experience working with sentiment analysis and emotion-detection models in real-world applications, ideally in healthcare or mental health.
Familiarity with speech-to-text processing (e.g., Google Speech-to-Text, OpenAI Whisper) and audio analysis is a plus.
Strong understanding of data privacy standards (HIPAA, GDPR) in AI applications, with experience building secure and compliant AI solutions.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Plotly, Dash) to create interactive counselor dashboards.
Understanding of psychological language and mental health-specific NLP applications.
Strong collaboration skills, with an interest in working with counselors, therapists, and mental health experts to refine AI-driven solutions.
